Write about a fear you have overcome.

Prompt: When i was about 8 years old i was deathly afraid of roller coasters. But one day my babysitter made me go with her to Six Flags and she made me ride every single ride that day or else she "wouldn't let us leave". Being 8 years old i believed her for some reason, and almost cried on every single ride. It was the scariest day of my life. But after the fact I started to love them more and more, and now I love going to Six Flags and riding all the rides with no fear. Just total excitement. Summary: Today in class we got into groups and completed a work sheet in canvas. Reflection: I learned to never go to a concert the day before school...

As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

Prompt: It will always be about football for me, i don't care about politics or economics. I could sit there and debate someone about football for hours upon hours. especially college football, there is just so much to talk about. All the brainwashed big ten and ACC fans who think they compare to the SEC just baffles me, but it is easily my favorite topic of all time no questions asked. Arguing about other stuff to me is just pointless in my eyes. Summary: We took a bunch of notes then completed a worksheet. Reflection: I learned what pathos, logos, and ethos were.

Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

Prompt:A truth I was afraid to accept is that we were going to lose to Alabama all along. They are the hump we can never overcome, for whatever reason we just suck against them. Then they will play a crappy Florida State tea and lose or even Vanderbilt. But whenever they play us they turn into the best team in the country. I kind of knew we were going to lose because we always do. I just really really really didn't want to accept it, I sat in the stadium in silence for 20 minutes after the game. It was very hard. summary: we took a bunch of notes and I put a lot of paper in peoples hair. Reflection: I learned how to calculate acceleration in AP physics.

Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

Prompt: A time I was judged unfairly was when I told my family i was a cowboys fan, because man did they make fun of me. For weeks upon weeks I was treated like a criminal, being mocked, bullied, and tormented by my own family. For liking an NFL team, which I think was pretty unfair. I was only around seven when I told them this and they did not care. They showed no mercy to me, even if I was only seven they did not care. But through thick and thin I will always support Americas team, no regrets. Summary: Mr. Rease was out of class so we completed a common lit. Reflection: I learned about what fear could teach us, it was very interesting.

Imagine you are learning about Hispanic/Latino heritage for the very first time. What would you be curious to know about the traditions, foods, music, or celebrations?

Prompt: If i were learning about Latino culture i would want to know how to make their food. It is easily the best tasting food out of any culture. The seasoning, richness, and overall taste of it is just something special. My favorite is burritos, and i really want to learn how to make an authentic burrito. I have lots of friends who get to experience this type of cooking everyday. I am very jealous of them, i just get bland normal food. I would also like to learn the language, it seems fun and challenging. Summary: Today in class we took notes on themes and how to set up a paragraph. Reflections: I learned how to get your point across in your first paragraph of an essay.

After viewing your classmates’ poem posters, select one presentation that caught your attention. Describe what you enjoyed about it or something new you learned from their work. image.png

Prompt:   Grady's poster caught my attention, the thought process of talking about cars for an entire poem just amazes me. But sorry to say he in fact did have some weak spots. He talked about drinking beer in a school project, definitely not okay. But i did learn when I am writing about something to never use profanity, off topic subjects, and non school friendly words. Overall it wasn't horrible, but it did not receive a good grade from me. Summary: Today in class we presented our poem posters. Reflection: I learned to be appropriate when doing a school project, and to turn my microphone on.

In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

Prompt: When I use to play baseball my friends and I always played with each other for our travel season. Their dads were the coaches and so was my dad. We played from about 7U to 12U together, we were basically family. Sadly eventually people started leaving and sooner or later we were all gone. So I had to go a real travel team, I tried out for this brand new program called Atlanta Fuego and I knew absolutely nobody. I felt so out of place and almost like I didn't belong there for a while. Then I kinda started to mingle with the new kids and coaches and I grew pretty fond of them a couple of months in. But it was very weird and hard for me to make it feel like home again. Summary: Today in class we completed a common lit since Mr. Rease was out. Reflection: I learned what the definition of Interloper was from the story "The Interlopers".

Of today’s 15 vocabulary words, which three do you think you will use the most in your speaking and writing this semester? Explain why each word feels useful or powerful to you.

Prompt: I think one word I will use most this semester is ambiguous because, it is a very known word and it can have many different meanings and the way you portray it in texts. For example : The homework I get for physics is very ambiguous. Another word I will use a lot this semester is aesthetic because, it is a very common word and it is very easy to pair with the way something looks. For example: I love the way Mr. Rease's classroom looks, it is very aesthetically pleasing. Lastly another word I believe we will use a lot more is affinity because, we talk about poems a lot and a big thing in the poem industry is love. Affinity is loving something, so I think we will be seeing this word very often.  Summary: Today in class we wrote 15 sentences using our new vocabulary words. Reflection: I learned a lot of new words and improved my vocabulary greatly.

It’s Homecoming Week! 🎉 What do you love most about being part of the Lakeside community? How do you show off your school spirit? What is your favorite Homecoming tradition or event?

Prompt: My favorite part of Lakeside has to be my friends who go here, spending time with them in school is so much fun and just being around everyone. I also really like the teachers because most of them genuinely care about you and want the best for you. As a student that's all I needed to be successful and want to come to school to learn. I show off my school spirit by attending every powder puff game and even playing in the volleyball game. I also love too dress up for the themes and attend all the football games to support my brothers. My favorite homecoming tradition is probably the pep rally because, we have very shortened classes and the atmosphere is so cool to see in school. Summary: We took a test on Constantly Risking Absurdity. Reflection: I need to some to school more often because I wasn't able to take the test, I didn't have any notes...

Which learning method do you enjoy the most? Class discussions, worksheet work, or hands-on actvities. Select one and tell why.

Prompt: The learning method I enjoy the most is hands-on activities. Because I feel more engaged and mentally ready to learn. I cant sit still for very long so I need something to have or to do that not just a teacher reading off a prompt and we take notes. I cannot learn that way and I don't know how people can do that. Especially when I am interested into the activity and it just gets ruined by a boring way of learning that topic. Like my AP Physics class, Physics is so interesting and I love to do it. But my teacher just stands and talks the entire time reading off a PowerPoint. I would much rather prefer labs and stuff that can engage people like me and want to learn more on the topic. Summary: Today in class we finished up our poems visual graphic. Reflection: I learned how to get an animated character to talk for me in Adobe.

Which aspect of creating a poem do you enjoy the most? Tell what it is and explain why.

Prompt: My favorite aspect of creating a poem is rhyming words, it is very enjoyable to me. It makes me feel like a rapper or a DJ trying to come up with funny or serious words. I usually try to copy my favorite artists verses to help me and it actually helps a lot. So most of the time I listen to music or beats to try too boost my creative outlet. Whether is be country or rap beats I try to stay with the flow of the song and replicate it onto my poem. I also enjoy writing the poems, they are the easiest type of writing and I have the most fun with poems. Summary: Today in class we started working on our own poems. Reflection: I learned how to start a poem and create a metaphor.

After reading Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem "Constantly Risking Absurdity," which explores the poet's daring craft, write about your most absurd personal experience. Describe a single, specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish. Ensure your response is vivid, concise, and captures the essence of absurdity.

Prompt: My most absurd and risky personal experience would probably be sneaking into a Falcons game. So there I was outside of Mercedes Benz Stadium with my 3 friends and I. We were very bored and decided we wanted to watch the game from the inside. So we thought of every possible plan, none seemed to work. So we convinced this guy to screenshot his ticket and send it to us after he used it. Then after he got in our plan was set in motion, I drew the short hand of straws so I had to go first and of course the ticket wouldn't work. I begged and pleaded with the worker to let me in out of pitty, and luckily she did. But then when my friends tried the same thing they caught on to what our plan was and we were escorted out. They were trying to bring us to the police officer but my friends and I just ran for the hills and got away. I definitely would not recommend messing with their security. Summary: I was out of school sick but i saw on canvas we read a poem. Reflection: I learned th...

You are currently working on a soundtrack for selected Emily Dickinson poems. With that in mind, if asked to choose a song to describe your life right now, which song would you select and why?

Prompt: The song I would select would probably be creep by radio head. Because I keep failing tests and I'm in  a very sad state after my cowboys lost last night and we traded Micah Parsons away for basically a round of blackjack. I know things will turn up for me but I just cant help listening to this music right now because I've not been getting the best test scores. But I know the storm will pass eventually, I just need to study my vocab and pay closer attention in class. Hopefully my current life song will be something upbeat like motley Crue, because that's what I usually listen too and love. Summary: We took our test on Emily Dickinson's poems, and about her. Reflection: I learned I need to take my time on tests and through ally read the question to understand what its asking me.

If you were to compose a poem about one aspect of your life, which topic would it fall into and what would your overall life's message be?

Prompt: If I were to compose a poem about my life I think the main topic would be football, I've been playing since I was in 5th grade and its basically been my life since. I had to medically retire from contact sports 2 weeks ago, I was absolutely crushed. I think it would be a very interesting poem about my trials and tribulations on my football career. The overall message would probably be when one door closes another one opens. Because even though it's over I can now move on from that chapter in my life and start a fresh new one. I have my entire life ahead of me and I need to start focusing on my future. Summary: In class we reviewed some of Emily Dickinson's poems. Reflection: I learned her true meaning behind her poems and what the overall message she was putting out into the world.

You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

Prompt: American Literature has been kind of fun and challenging. I enjoy the class a lot because of the topics we discuss, the people, and how it's the last class of the day. The poems we have been reading are very interesting and easy to follow, which is a big factor for me. Because I can't pay attention for too long so its great that they are short and sweet. The class is somewhat easy now but I  definitely think it's going to get way harder. As long as I stay on top of my work I think the year will go smoothly. I have always liked ELA and this year isn't any different, I enjoy class a lot and look forward everyday. I think its going to be a great year. Summary: I was out of class due to a doctors appointment. Reflection: Try not to miss too much class because I missed a lot the day i was out.
