Prompt: As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

Prompt: I really liked this class, especially when we studied poetry. It was the most fun part for me. The assignment I enjoyed most was when we got to write our own poem about a special memory. I connected with poetry because I finally learned how to read and understand what poems mean, which felt like a big win! For next semester, I know I need to work on making the first sentence of my paragraphs, called the topic sentence, much clearer. Summary: Today in class we presented our poem posters. Reflection: I learned I need to stop talking while other people are presenting.

Prompt: Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does).

Prompt: One tradition my family does around Christmas is buying a little stuffed animal that dances and plays Christmas music. My dad and I started this when i was little, and we haven't looked back since. It's always a blast going to home depot picking out which one is the funniest and taking it home to bring it to the collection. But sadly, slowly over time we have been forgetting bout it so we did not do it last year which was pretty sad once we realized. But this year we are already ahead of the game. So hopefully we don´t forget next year. Summary: I was not in class today. Reflection: I learned i need to take lock downs more seriously after a cop yelled at me.

Prompt: How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning.

Prompt: The holidays have changed dramatically since I was young. It's very sad, I used to be so excited for Christmas and Easter. But now I kind of just see it as another day, I like seeing my brother and having school off. But when i was young I would be jumping with joy to get my presents, now that I am older I just feel kind of bad that my parents spend a decent amount of money on just my brother and I. Don't get me wrong I love anything they get me, but I just feel bad for getting them. So I do miss the old feelings of holidays and I wish I could go back to the simple days, because life just gets worse and worse from here. Summary: Today in class we completed our Lesson 6 Vocabulary words. Reflection: I learned what the true meaning of the word wrenched.

Prompt: Write about something that you can't stop thinking about.

Prompt: Something I cant stop thinking about is Georgia is going to win the National Championship. They have all the pieces in order to come home with another trophy. They get to face horrible Tulane or coach less Ole Miss who we already beat. Then Ohio State most likely, who has never beaten us, NEVER. Then we will either face Alabama or Indiana. Do I need to say anything more? It just sounds like another natty for Kirby Smart. Gunner Stockton is going to prove why he deserves to be a Heisman finalist.

Cultural Mask

Reflection: I thought this project was fun and really helpful in expressing our true selves. And it                                       was cool to see everybody's cultural backgrounds.

Prompt: After watching the short film Identity, write a blog post reflecting on how the masks in the film represent the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are. Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal? Dec 5

In Identity, the masks show how people try to fit in even when it isn’t who they really are. The moment that stood out to me was when the girl took off her mask and finally felt free. I relate to this because not fitting in actually helped me make real friends. This connects to “I, Too” because both show the importance of being yourself. My mask will show the real me Summary: We watched a short film and compared it to the poem “I,Too” Reflection: I learned not to pet my other dog while he’s eating his food.

Prompt: In “I, Too,” the speaker expresses pride in his identity and his rightful place in America. Reflect on your own life: What aspect of your cultural identity are you most proud of, and why?

One part of my cultural identity that I am most proud of is my Christianity. It has taught me important values like kindness, patience, and treating others with respect. My faith also gives me strength during hard times and helps me stay hopeful about the future. I feel connected to something bigger than myself, and that makes me more confident in who I am. Because of this, my Christianity continues to guide my choices and shape the person I want to become. Summary: Today in class we read and analyzed a poem. Reflection: I learned how to bake the perfect cookie.

Prompt: In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?

Prompt:  When I first started driving, I thought going a little faster made me look confident and experienced. One afternoon, I was speeding down the road when I saw a terrible crash happen right in front of me. In that moment, the “cool” feeling disappeared, and I realized how quickly things can go wrong. I slowed down right away because I understood I wasn’t just risking my own life, but everyone else’s too. After that day, my whole perspective changed, and I decided being safe is way more important than trying to impress anyone. Summary: Today in class we read “We Real Cool”. Reflection: I learned what we were doing in math

Prompt: Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

Prompt: The most meaningful thing I did over the break was visit my family in South Georgia. I always loved hanging out with them, hunting, and fishing. They are some of my favorite people on this earth, and it's sad they live so far away. So we can't really go back and fourth 4 hours every day. As we were sitting down to eat with them I felt very thankful for my family to finally be back together. Summary: Today in class we completed our vocabulary assignments. Reflection: I learned what all the vocabulary words mean.
